About the artistes
Geistrio is a piano trio founded at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University in 2009 by Maria Fuller, Ewald Cheung, and Dominic Painchaud. The piano trio is currently coached by professor, Andre Roy. Geistrio has produced great results in previous competitions, including the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, and the Plowman Chamber Competition in the spring of 2011. The piano trio has been coached by many master musicians, including, Matt Haimovitz, Sara Laimon, Andrew Wan, Douglas McNabney, and Kyoko Hashimoto. They have also had masterclasses with Jonathan Crow, Gilbert Kalish, Andre LaPlante, and Ian Brown. The name, "Geistrio" was inspired from the German term, "Geist" meaning with spirit.
